Getting to know Lynda
Like each of us, I have a story. Like many of us I did things the way I thought was expected – education, advancing career, family; each day filled to the point of moving through life anxious about the future or agonizing over the past. Not much of living was in the moment - little realization of how tired I was and how aware I wasn’t. As resilient as I perceived myself to be, the auto-immune condition I developed was my body telling me things were not as they should be.
Awakening to how disconnected I was from myself happened slowly. As I considered what was missing and why, I came to understand it was ‘sensing’. I had designed my existence with little space; or more specifically, with little clear space. Space to pause, breathe, move, think, sense – overall be with my day the way I wanted to be. I became more and more dissatisfied with my state. Unsure of what was possible and curious that there had to be more to living, I set myself up for discomfort – that place where change happens. I prepared for a 180 degree turn in my path. I made my well-being the focus of my efforts. The years that followed comprised mindfulness, movement, breath, nutrition, sleep and energy balancing training. I am grateful to all my teachers, past and present.
I was engaged again. As my state changed, so grew my enthusiasm. It was no accident that I learned habit evolution precisely when I needed it. Yes, our patterns run deep, AND their grooves can be lessened, and new healthier ones laid down by taking small, conscious, accessible steps towards potential.
I am the product of my habits. By re-grooving them my mind/body care have shifted. I am more energy efficient, clearer. Space has opened in my life. I live more expansive and awake. Now I want to teach.
